Creating An Interactive Spinner

Have you ever wanted to know how to create a truly interactive spinner for a game with a class, a group of colleagues, or even for a different type of event. It isn’t really all that difficult, and this tutorial can show you how simple it really is in PowerPoint. It uses the platform of triggers, and a graph that has been changed to a pie chart. This video tutorial will show you how simple it is in 10 minutes. As you practice, you can literally do it in 3 minutes or less.

Greetings Everyone. It has been a long time in writing, but much has been transpiring personally. I have been working on my Doctorate in Education over the last year and not much time has been allowed for tutorials or the like. This coming summer (June 17-19), I will be teaching at the Alabama Education Technology Conference (AETC) three workshops. Two are three hour hands-on workshops, and the other is a one hour teaching session. I will be teaching “Real World Educational Blogging and Podcasting” to an audience of 200+, and the two three hour teaching labs will be: “Interactive Presentations in PowerPoint”, and “Real World Educational Blogging and Podcasting”. This is always a highlight of my year where I get to meet and work with teachers from all over the state of Alabama.

POWERPOINT TUTORIALS
One of the goals I had in creating this site was to provide simple tutorials for educators to enhance technology integration in the classroom. Some the tutorials that will be highlighted are using interactive powerpoint gaming formats. There are many out there on the web, in fact I have provided six here on this site that I have custom created for teachers and for conferences where I teach “Hands On Workshops”. These videos focus intently on using “Triggers” in MS PowerPoint. One thing about triggers, is they will only work with PowerPoint XP (2002) and above (2003, 2007). Even using a interactive presentation requires the PowerPoint Viewer XP or 2003. It is a great tool to use and provides a lot of flexibility for professionals. Besides using the typical – hyperlinks, or “hotspots”, it really puts the control into the creators hand.

Listed below is the presentation for the 1 hour session (#8) “The ABC’s and 123’s of Educational Podcasting”. It is wide-screen format. I hope those that view it, find it useful. It focuses on the Windows operating system only and offers all free resources (as far as software) to help teachers, students, and professionals utilize this optimum for practical podcasting and vidcasting. Be sure to check out the links page for specific addresses to websites that were/are very beneficial to educators learning or trying to create pod/vidcast.

Also, I was an instructor for 2 three hour “Hands On Workshops”, specifically one called, “PowerPointless To A PowerTool” which has six completed interactive powerpoint games for use in the classroom. These are great for classroom interaction, reviews, team/game formats, etc. They are completely setup for an individual to put in their individual content. All links, triggers, etcetera are all completed. They have been tried and tested by several different teachers in order to eliminate any problems/issues. If you use them or enjoy them, please let me know, and remember to give credit where credit is due. Lots of hours have gone into these to help eliminate that issue for others. Welcome to Culpepper Online. This website will endeavor to be a focus on integrating technology in the classroom and offer visual hands-on tutorial downloads for all. My goal is to have features on the “HOW TO” end and include multiple resources providing detailed information to help teachers become more successful. The days of the overhead and transparencies are dead, and hands on, interactive, and group based learning is what is expected for a visual and tech savy generation. If we fail to speak THEIR language, it is the Tower of Babel all over again, and the students are the ones who pay the price/penalty.
